11/18/2006, Galaxy 1, Matrix 0
Our team played a little "heavy" today, I think there was a letdown from last weeks emotional win. Still, we played with enough energy to get the win. Richie Masley scored the Galaxy's goal. Kudos to our stellar defense of Alexander Bruzzi, Michael Buonocore, Damian O'Sullivan, and Dillon Frame. Congratulations to all Galaxy players on a terrific season.
Even with the close score we were able to move some players around so they could experience some new positions this season. Xavier Leong-Hussey, our sweeper all season, moved up to midfield. Devin Geraghty moved from stopper to forward. Sergei Meyer moved from forward to goalie, and Dominick Servedio moved from goalie to midfielder.
Remember our award Pizza party is December 2, at TZHS at 6PM. Make sure to wear your uniform shirt (your parents might want a Galaxy Picture with trophies in hand).
Players, please join me in thanking Trish Moran for her help on the sidelines keeping us focused. Her positive take on things helped us hold onto the emotional edge. And, she also tracked of all the substitutions (and there were lots of those). Our goal was to play everyone as equal as possible - and - play for the win. Players, also thank your parents, who made sure you got to all of our practices, without them we would have gone nowhere. I really enjoyed coaching all of you, and wish you the best of luck in your soccer careers. I hope to see you next year on the fields (hope you will all try out for your school team).
11/11/2006, Galaxy 1, Patriots 0
This was a game for the ages. The Galaxy and the Patriots battled with the intensity of a travel club match, 82 minutes of high-test soccer. Our defense was rock solid. Dominick Servedio made 10 saves in goal, each one more amazing. The one time Dominick needed some help Xavier Leong-Hussey was right there, clearing a ball that Dominick had just deflected. Dillon Frame, Damian O'Sullivan, and Michael Buonocore played a passionate defense, never giving the Patriot's forwards any space. Our main stopper today was Devin Geraghty, who stopped the Patriot drives and cleared the ball down the field. Alexander Bruzzi played with unmatched drive at midfield. Fellow midfielders Will Mishkel and Joe Moran were total energy. Our extremely busy forwards today were Caio Mello, Keith Witte, Patrick Muldoon, Richard Masley, with Jacob Leiberman scoring the loan Galaxy goal on a pass from Sergei Meyer, Great job Galaxy!
11/05/2006, Galaxy 8, Oilers 4.
What a come-back! Down 3-1 after the first quarter, the Galaxy stormed back, taking a 4-3 lead by the end of the first half. They held off a relentless Oiler offense for an 8 - 4 win. Galaxy goals were by Richard Masley (3), Joe Moran (2) and Sergei Meyer, Caio Mello, and Patrick Muldoon each with one. Another superb game in goal by Dominick Servedio, with (6) saves. Great job boys.
